Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar is the American and British sitar artist. She is also the first and youngest woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising superstar on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is Ravi Shankar's student as well as his daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the beginning of her career moving between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Then she relocated into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, but she has a very impressive career in music and performance. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for some time. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live in Carnegie Hall. Alongside performing at every major venue as well, she is a stage performer for a lengthy time. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. Bapi The love of my life is an illustrated biographie she wrote in 2002. The book pays tribute to her father who died in the year 2000. Ravi Shankar. Anoushka was born in England however, she spent the majority of her youth in between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and attended high school there. Anoushka started her music studies at the age of nine. Four years later she played her first music debut with the sitar Delhi at her father's 75th birthday celebration. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of experience performing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording with George Harrison. She was the first woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and artistry within the Asian Arts.
